Hyderabad: Green India Challenge and the Save Soil movement have come together to organize a ‘Matti Kosam Manam’ live music concert here on Saturday.

J. Santosh Kumar, Member of Parliament, a strong supporter of the Save Soil movement was the chief guest, and he said, “Our government is always in line with this cause. With Save Soil volunteers, he planted saplings on this occasion.

The performances of famous singers Ram Miriyala, Mangli, Sri Lalitha, Sahithi Chaganti, Ramya Behara and Sandeep instantly touched people and underlined their connection to the ground.

The cultural extravaganza saw women perform at Bathukamma, an auspicious festival in Telangana. The audience gathered and played to the beat of the now viral Save Soil song and the upbeat beats ensured the crowd was captivated and took the message of the Save Soil movement to their hearts and minds. Award-winning farmers Nagaratnam Naidu and Venkateswara Rao, Raithunestam also participated.

The event takes place against the backdrop of Sadhguru’s Journey for Soil entering the country after traveling through 26 countries in Europe and the Middle East. Sadhguru will continue his solo bike ride through nine states of India and is also expected to be in Hyderabad and address a public event on Save Soil on June 15.

The Save Soil movement is supported by various global bodies and agencies, including the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Faith for Earth, an initiative of UNEP , the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
