She’s Only Sixteen Announces Name Change, Teases New Music
Filipino indie rock band She’s Only Sixteen have rebranded themselves with a new name, while teasing new music on the horizon.
The group will now go by the name SOS, an acronym of the outfit’s original name. The quartet then explained via social media that the new name is pronounced as “sauce”.
“New name. New music. Still your favorite boys,” the band shared of the name change on their Instagram page. “Wearing in a new era for our music, ourselves, and our listeners. .

After 13 years, we’re not just sixteen anymore,” explained lead guitarist Andrew Panopio on change. in a separate post. “Nothing really changed last night when we announced this. SOS was recently announced as a supporting cast at the August Gimme Shelter event, alongside a line-up that includes Ben&Ben, Cheats and Munimuni. The performance will be performed by Indonesian singer-songwriter Pamungkas, who will deliver his very first performance in the Philippines.
Last November, the band released the synth-laden single ‘Proof’. The track followed their remix EP released last January, which featured five different versions of the single “Broken Glass” from artists DMAPS, Him., Thrones., Wilson Pivot and LONER.
In 2020, the group released the EP ‘The Other Side’, which landed on NME list of the best Asian albums of this year. Landing at No. 14 on the list, critic Aldus Santos praised the record for its “newfound sublimity,” as a “powerfully refreshing” “consecutive record, with songs to soundtrack your moments of judgement, reminiscence and regret.
SOS’ most recent full-length effort was the 2017 album, “Whatever That Was.”
